About Rob Lee Andrews

Ten years ago, my family and I chose Aurora as our home, captivated by its vibrant diversity and promise as an all-American city. We saw in Aurora a place where different cultures and perspectives come together to build something extraordinary. As a proud Colorado native, I’ve always been deeply connected to our state, its challenges, and its incredible potential. That connection inspired me to get involved, working on economic initiatives for Adams and Arapahoe Counties and serving on steering committees in Aurora to reduce crime and create pathways to economic mobility for those striving to get back on their feet.

My journey wasn't always smooth, but that only encouraged me to lead my life with strong values rooted in resilience and purpose. Growing up in humble beginnings in Colorado, I learned the value of hard work and determination. When a career-ending injury threatened to derail my path, I didn’t give up - I fought back. I became a professional athlete, but my true calling was always in service to others, not just on the field.

After graduating from Hastings College, a small Presbyterian school in Nebraska, I signed a contract to play professional football. After suffering a career-ending injury, I came back to my roots in Colorado to take care of my sick father, and was lucky enough to be a part of history as an Organizer on the 2008 campaign to elect President Barack Obama. Between balancing being a caretaker for my father and trying to make an impact, I began working in the nonprofit world, serving in various roles at different nonprofit organizations, learning how to run an impactful and effective organization and building my career to today. I currently serve as the Executive Director and founder of One Voice Coalition, where we help vulnerable populations go back to work through the social determinants of health.

As a staunch advocate and public servant, I currently serve on various public and nonprofit boards and commissions, including on the Board of Trustees for Hastings College, Denver County Workforce Development Board, Colorado Workforce Development Board, and Colorado Judicial Performance Commission. In addition, I have held roles in the past with the Amazing Women Center, Denver Workforce Investment Board, Armed Services YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region Board, Black Advisory Council Member El Pomar Foundation, Colorado Springs Pride Center, and RTD Affordable FaresTask Force.

In addition to passionately serving on boards and commissions, I have always been an advocate of continuing education and always learning and growing. Some of my post-collegiate education includes a National Association Workforce Development Professionals Job Developer Certificate, Bridges out of Poverty Certificate, Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certificate, National Certificate in Employment Services Get Work Now!, Lean Management Certificate, Bootstraps Certificate and a Bootstraps Trainer Certificate.

Today, I am running for Aurora City Council because I believe in the strength and potential of Aurora and its people. I envision a city where every resident feels safe, where affordable housing is a reality, and where economic opportunity is within reach for all. Addressing these challenges - reducing crime, fostering economic mobility, and expanding access to affordable housing - requires bold leadership and collaboration. I am confident that solutions need to be community-based, and thus lie within the people of Aurora.

I am Rob Lee Andrews and I am ready to lead, to serve, and to create an Aurora that works for everyone. Together, we can build a brighter future.
